Did you know your work health insurance is only sickness insurance?
Why don't you try real healthcare?

Simply "feeling fine" doesn't mean you are • Cell Nutrition is far more than food • There's no "magic bullets" to health

Have you ever measured your health like you do your bank statement?

I bet you haven't! You need proper measurements of your organs, tissues, and cellular nutrient levels. This is all for less than the cost of 2 pharmacy prescriptions!

woman in malaysia

A young woman came to me complaining of gastro-intestinal issues seemingly stemming from a potential parasite infestation.  She also reported very low energy levels, cloudy thinking, increasing amounts of grey hair.

Is your Medical Doctor conducting tests on tissues like hair mineral analysis and others? Does your MD dedicate their time to analyzing your lifestyle, diet (including what you consume), organ function, heavy metal levels, and various other factors? Do they conduct tests on vitamins, minerals, amino acids, essential fatty acids, and other elements like we do in this case study? Hardly any do, primarily because their training focuses on acute care and disregards significant factors such as lifestyle, cellular health, and many others.

Diagnosis Vs Healthy
What's The Difference?
"Diagnosis": "1 ounce of prevention is worth 1 pound of cure" is when your body breaks down the point to fit a specific criteria for 1 or more "dis-eases" to be labelled and then symptoms managed often with drugs and surgeries but rarely getting to the cause of the problem and negative feedback loops never stopped. This is the most expensive outcome.
Healthy: in its present definition, refers to the remarkable ability of biological systems to maintain stability while adapting to fluctuating external circumstances. Here you experience excellent cognitive and physical abilities. The primary method of achieving this is through prevention using a cellular nutritional approach called "medical nutrition." This is the lowest-cost outcome.

4. Diet Summary –

Water:

  • Water intake is poor and must be more approximate consumption based on your height, weight, activity level as explained below in the recommendations.
  • Client is drinking fruit juices but did not indicate if they were fresh juices or frozen concentrated and pasteurized (heated).

Fresh fruit and veg:

  • Food log indicates limited amounts of fresh fruit/vegetables. Virtually none is being consumed with the exception of them being present in some form within the fermented probiotic supplements mentioned.

Nutrient Dense foods:

  • Client is obtaining a low level of these foods including chickpeas, beef, dates, raisins, cassava green leaves, gherkins, avocado, and traditional indonesian drinks that could be considered nutrient dense.

Fibre:

  • Client obtaining little fiber from chickpeas, dates, raisins, avocado. Must increase unrefined fiber-containing foods.

EFA’s:

  • It appears as though Essential Fatty Acids (EFAs) are mostly being consumed in isolated, supplement form and not from less fragmented and unrefined food and drink sources. While trying to address digestive problems with potential bacteria and parasites it's a good idea to stick to whole foods such as fresh fish for EFAs or the more economical canned sardines and wild salmon if possible. Many nuts can contain essential fatty acids such as Walnuts, ground flax seeds.

Protein:

  • Breakfasts during the week indicate insufficient protein sources such as chickpeas, which are incomplete proteins. Beef, egg and mushrooms, as indicated, can be considered complete proteins, but they are in animal form. Should try to obtain more whole proteins from such things as fermented Tofu but avoid foods that convert to sugars quickly such as grains, pasta, wheat and rice. Parasites feed off of sugary foods (Cookies, cakes, sweeteners), and foods that convert to sugar quickly (grains, pasta, wheat, rice).

Probiotics:

  • Not many probiotics in her diet, however she is consuming them in her supplement regime. She could try to include sauerkraut into her diet.

Whole grains:

  • Client is consuming grains but mostly refined, "empty calorie' grains such as white rice, which had their bran and endosperm removed in the milling process in contrast to brown rice which contains most, if not all, the bran and endosperm.

Legumes:

  • Not consuming enough legumes but she is consuming chick peas, beans. Best to increase these combinations in 2:1 ratio of 2 legumes to 1 grain serving.

Processed foods:

  • Raisins, bread toast, bread crumbs, white rice, cheese beef burgers, french fries, milk, pesto chicken, Quesadillas, smoked beef rissole Should try to avoid these and once better gut health is established, she likely will find more intolerance to these items.

Sugar:

  • Refined sugars often found in teas that client indicates she consumes. Best to avoid these.

Dairy:

  • Client reports consuming cheese, milk with teas, Cappuchino coffee/tea with milk. Best to cut them all out especially cheese and cow's milk at least until better gut health is established.

Beverages:

  • Cappucino matcha: coffee/tea 1-2/daily
  • Green tea with milk
  • Indonesian traditional drinks
  • Fermented probiotic
  • Fruit juices
  • Herbal teas
  • Best to avoid caffeinated beverage as they aggravate especially the adrenal glands.
  1. Summary of Analysis/Contributing Factors

Main Concerns of Client

  • Efficient, strong immune system
  • Achieve balanced weight
  • Better visual acuity

All Causes and Effects relevant to the client

Water deficiency (A1: 56)

  • Many are dehydrated and don’t know it. Water is the solvent in which the nutrients and wastes need to travel. It is required in abundance for the kidneys to regulate and for the bowel to eliminate. “You are not sick, you are thirsty!” (Batmanghelidj, M.D. 1997)

Causes

  • Client-specific diuretics causing water loss include caffeinated drinks such as coffee, teas, but also some foods such as fruit juices with sugar either refined or unrefined. Mass produced breads, meats, french fries, and eggs can cause water loss since they do not contain much, if any, water. Intestinal/gut parasitic infections can also cause water loss and they may be present in the client as per her symptoms and assessment chart graph.

Effects

  • lack of energy ■ poor digestion, low HCL production, heartburn ■ poor lubrication in the joints, arthritis ■ constipation ■ joint pain, headaches, flu-like symptoms which could be presenting themselves in client's recent health problems.

Vitamin D Deficiency (F2: 50)

Also called the sunshine vitamin, D has a dual role as both a vitamin and a hormone because our body can produce vitamin D by the action of sunlight on the skin. Vitamin D has several primary functions: it increases calcium absorption and phosphorus in the intestinal tract, and regulates calcification and mineralization of the bones.

Causes

  • Sedentary indoor lifestyle with lack of sun exposure. Metabolic abnormalities in absorption or metabolism of D are the most serious causes of a deficiency of this mineral. Heredity may play a role. Potential intestinal/gut parasitic infection has been known to interfere with absorption of a variety of nutrients.

Effects

  • Client mentioned recent sicknesses along with history of dental work. Vitamin D deficiency and imbalances of co-factor nutrients such as K2 and others have been shown to contribute to tooth cavities. Lack of Vitamin D has also been shown to significantly reduce immune system function.

Under-active Thyroid (J6: 52)

  • Thyroid activity is directly related to body temperature. 37°C or 98°F is the ideal body temperature for efficient biochemical reactions. At temperatures above or below this norm, chemical messengers become misshapen and no longer precisely fit the receptor sites they are intended to activate.

Causes:

  • Under-active thyroid is very common and seems to increase every year. One theory is that the constant exposure to free radicals and radiation caused by modern ecological disasters is showing its effect on the world population. Underactive thyroid is linked to iodine and selenium deficiency (lack of unrefined food/drinks).

  • It is linked to increased levels of mercury (often coming from tooth amalgam fillings and environmental exposures) because mercury displaces iodine. It is linked to all other glands of the endocrine system: adrenals, gonads, pancreas, and pituitary. Sometimes the thyroid is underactive because it does not get the signal it needs from the pituitary(J.8) or because it is working overtime to compensate for weak adrenals , ovaries , or pancreas. Estrogen also inhibits the absorption of iodine. Can also be linked to a phenomenon known as Reverse T3. We may recommend a Basal Temperature Test (BTT) for next appointment, but we will check progress with diet/lifestyle/supplement changes.

Effects:

  • There could be many effects from many different levels including physical observations along with more latent elements such as flaky, dry, rough skin * sleeplessness, restlessness, sleep disturbances ■ poor short-term memory, forgetfulness ■ poor response to exercising ■ hypoglycemia (low blood sugar).
  • People's needs for caffeinated and high sugar drinks/foods in the morning can also be an effect of this and why many people reach for these substances that provides a very temporary, but long-term harmful effect on the body and mind.

Underactive Adrenals (J1: 51)

Underactive adrenals are encountered as frequently as an underactive stomach (B.1). The two are in fact linked. Underactive adrenals spell STRESS, and we know how that affects the functions of the digestive tract.

The adrenals are involved in our response to stress, whether physical, emotional or psychological. Stress leads to what we call the ‘fight or flight’ syndrome, which releases adreno-corticol hormone in the blood stream.

Since in our modern society we are seldom in a position to either ‘fight or flight’, this constant fluctuation of adrenal hormones results in exhaustion of the glands, and the accompanying syndromes: fatigue, insomnia, digestive tract upsets, irritability, depression, heart disease, PMS, menopausal syndromes, etc.

Causes:

  • lack of supporting nutrients - vitamin C pantothenic acid , potassium , B12 , vitamin E and choline ■ diets high in sugar , refined grains ■ Stimulants and depressantsa may temporarily mask the symptoms of underactive adrenals, but in fact they greatly contribute to further deterioration.

Effects:

  • eyes sensitive to bright lights, headlights, sunlight ■ tightness or “lump" in throat, hurts under stress ■ inability to cope with stressful events ■ form goose flesh easily or “cold sweats” ■ voice rises to high pitch or is “lost" during stress ■ easily shaken up or startled from unexpected noise.
  • more than usual neck, head, shoulder tension. blood pressure decreases when going from a lying position to a standing position

Intestinal Parasites (K5: 44)

A high score in this area is suggestive of intestinal infestation by protozoans (amoeba, giardia, trichomonas) or helminths (roundworms, pinworms, hookworms, tapeworms).

Effects:

  • Diarrhea or abdominal distress while visiting foreign or unfamiliar locations ■ unexplained indigestion, gas or bloating. intestinal tract irritable, burns or cramps for no apparent reason or recently developed food/environmental allergies ■ frequent colds, flu or other acute illnesses.
  • weight loss or inability to gain weight
  • unexplained indigestion, gas or bloating
  • ■ muscular wasting or weakness, weight loss or inability to gain weight, lethargy, slow reflexes.
  • bowel movement, changeable, sometimes hard, sometimes soft, for no apparent reason.

Causes:

  • Cats have been known to carry toxoplasmosis parasites. Living in tropical areas of the globe also presents more possibilities of being infected with intestinal/gut parasites such as Helminths and others. In fact, estimates show between 20 to 40% of cats around the world manifest this parasite. More can be found here https://www.wormsandgermsblog.com/files/2008/04/M4-Toxoplasma-Owners.pdf
  • H Pylori is a bacterium that is very, very common that can also cause digestive imbalance symptoms and mimic parasite-like symptoms. It is a good idea to get medically checked with this bacteria and could be checked via blood and a breath test. This bacteria is also very common worldwide with at least 50% of the world population being infected often times without their knowledge. More can be found here https://www.genengnews.com/news/a-parasite-bacteria-coinfection-that-provides-protection-to-the-human-host/

6. Session 1 Protocols:

Session #1 Practitioner Main Goals:

I'm not trying to make the recommendations here overly expensive, time consuming, or confusing. It's being recommended with recognizing the time, budget and space constraints of the client's circumstances who's living in a rented room. The main goal in this first session is to modify the diet, along with lifestyle, and extra help from supplements to address first potential parasite and bacteria infection (that I recommend to get medically checked first), try to rectify gut/intestinal situation.

  1. This planning is also taking into account the client lives in Indonesia, and it won't likely be possible to obtain North American brands of supplements.
  2. Parasitic & bacterial infection cleansing due to high score for potential presence of intestinal/gut parasites along with past history of painful urination and others.
  3. Support the body performing this function and that primary includes supporting the gut/intestines in becoming more healthy to support elimination of potential parasites and other related toxins that would be released by cleansing.
  4. This recommendation is meant for your specific situation including low amounts of funds available for the client to spend. This is because she indicated she is low on funds at the moment.
  5. Lifestyle improvements such as changing food preparation/storage method, exercise routines
  6. Increase water soluble Vitamin B complex levels, in particular B12 as they are low in the chart, but they will also be needed in higher amounts while trying to initiate a cleansing program.
  7. Increase filtered water intake free of sweeteners.
  8. Client indicated that they are having difficulty with "feeling sleepy or tired" therefore we should wean client off of stimulant drinks and foods by increasing B vitamin levels (low on the chart) that will eventually increase alertness.
  9. Increase water levels throughout the day that do not depend on sweeteners, but they can be used along with a very small amount of sea salt to increase palatability. The eventual goal is to eliminate sweeteners.
  10. As per client requests, we shall recommend ways to increase visual acuity both with diet but also lifestyle changes including eye exercises along with general body exercises.
  11. Increase bowel transit time frequency to at least 1 time per day compared to the client stated 1 time in 2 to 3 days which is much too long. A healthier transit time is less than 12 hours but the "Standard American Transit time" is 72 hours!
  12. Strengthen the adrenals. The best approach to under-active adrenals is good management of stress along with optimal amounts of B vitamins (especially Vitamin B5) and in fact, the chart shows client is in low in these! Stress is another major factor and is a feeling of helplessness in the face of a given situation. Exercise is also an important adrenal strengthener, but we need to provide the body what it needs to produce and sustain mitochondrial function to produce energy.
  13. Have client confirm if she manifests H. Pylori bacteria along with toxoplasmosis and other parasites and bacterial infections and this can be medically checked. The main goal is to make the "body terrain" inhospitable to pathogens.

Diet recommendations

  • Garlic ("Kyolic” brand), probiotics, pumpkin seeds and others with high sulfur contents. Many people try to ingest 2 raw garlic cloves per day but this is often very unrealistic due to the extremely powerful, acrid taste of raw garlic. This is one of the big reasons to remain with prepared garlic capsules that often have been treated to make them "odor free." Some people also try pickling garlic to reduce the taste and canning is a good preparation technique to have for virtually any nutritious food.
  • Introduce Tofu as a replacement for animal meats.
  • reduce sugars, refined carbs in diet from food & drinks
  • Slowly eliminate coffee, black & white teas as they contain large amounts of caffeine that are known to aggravate the adrenal systems along with other inter-related organs & processes. Don't worry: as you follow the recommendations you will find you will incrementally need less stimulants to stay alert, especially with more B vitamins in your intake!
  • It's recommended to make fruit or vegetable smoothies for each morning using frozen fruits/vegetables as they are more easily stored without being fresh and increases dietary compliance. This introduces more fiber into the diet.
  • To maintain compliance in diet, it is suggested to purchase electric pressure cooker (with timer and auto shut off) to quickly and efficiently cook food for weekly preparation that can be frozen if she has space to maintain frozen food in her spartan lodging arrangements.
  • General guidelines
    • 1. Eat whole, natural foods.
    • 2. Eat only foods that will spoil, but eat them before they do.
    • 3. Eat "naturally-raised" meat including fish, seafood, poultry, beef, lamb, game, organ meats and eggs.
    • 5. Use only traditional fats and oils including butter and other animal fats, extra virgin olive oil, expeller pressed sesame and flax oil and the tropical oils—coconut and palm.
    • 6. Eat fresh fruits and vegetables, preferably organic, in salads and soups, or lightly steamed.
    • 7. Use whole grains and nuts that have been prepared by soaking, sprouting or sour leavening to neutralize phytic acid and other anti-nutrients.
    • 8. Include enzyme-enhanced lacto-fermented vegetables, fruits, beverages and condiments in your diet on a regular basis.
    • 9. Prepare homemade meat stocks from the bones of chicken, beef, lamb or fish and use liberally in soups and sauces.
    • 10. Use herb teas and coffee substitutes in moderation.
    • 11. Use filtered water for cooking and drinking.
    • 12. Use unrefined Celtic sea salt and a variety of herbs and spices for food interest and appetite stimulation.
    • 13. Make your own salad dressing using raw vinegar, extra virgin olive oil and expeller pressed flax oil.
  • Increase water intake: Ideal amount: your body weight (pounds) divided by 2 = number of ounces per day One glass = 8 ounces ■ Example: 150 pounds + 2 = 75 ounces, 75 - 8 = 9 glasses per day ■ Sources can be herbal, caffeine-free teas; filtered water; diluted, unsweetened juice.
  • Increase amounts of nuts and seeds specifically for parasitic cleansing, and this includes: consuming pumpkin seeds throughout the day as a snack; perhaps 1 cup of pumpkin seeds between meals. Best to soak seeds overnight in water to help break down potential phytic acids in many seeds and nuts. Phytic acid is found in sesame seeds, linseeds, and sunflower seeds. Nuts naturally contain a high amount of phytic acid. The process of "activating" nuts by soaking them in water and then dehydrating them at a low temperature breaks down some of the phytic acid.
  • Include more red beets cooked in a pressure cooker, and canned into mason jars (with vinegar and spices) and used with meals and snacks. More information about canning them can be found here https://www.allrecipes.com/recipe/218187/canned-spiced-pickled-beets/
  • Include more carrots into the diet and these can be prepared each week by dicing them into very fine form to be frozen into ice cube trays for easy, steady consumption throughout the week. This same method can be used for a variety of fruits, vegetables.
  • Try to abstain from fruit juices unless they are freshly prepared as many of them contain excessive amounts of refined sugar along with pasteurization, which kills many beneficial enzymes present in freshly prepared juices.
  • Avoid "white" rice, bread and other refined products as "white" products usually have had their nutrients removed for longer shelf life.
  • Ginger water: Intestinal/gut health every-day drink to replace sweetener, fruit juices, coffee, caffeinated teas. Produce this ginger water by boiling fresh, finely-diced ginger root and boil it for 30-40 minutes while keeping an eye on the boiling. Let it cool down and drink it as a substitute for coffee/tea, but is also will aid intestinal health and disarming potential presence of parasites and fungal organisms.
  • Instead of fruit juices with unknown quality and sugar content, try consuming sugar-free cranberry juice each morning in the amount of 1 to 2 cups as this is
  • Increase soluble fiber intake. Examples of soluble fiber foods include apples, prunes, figs, raspberries, carrots, oat bran, kidney beans, lima beans or (supplemental) psyllium husks.
  • Increase insoluble fiber intake. Insoluble fiber complements soluble fiber by increasing bulk in the waste, preventing impacted bowel pockets (diverticuli), reducing the length of time waste stays in the body and absorbing bile acid released during digestion. Examples of insoluble fiber are brown rice, quinoa, millet rice, whole wheat, raw spinach, Brussels sprouts and flaxseed.

Lifestyle recommendations

  • Client should possibly try to seek assistance from an MD doctor to see if she can obtain assistance with confirming if she has current diagnosable parasitic infection and H Pylori Bacteria and mention burning sensation upon urination 2 years ago. This way it could be confirmed if she has manifested this infection.
  • Client indicated that she performs "small warm up" exercises. Ideally this should be amplified and expanded at incremental amounts including: small daily 30 minute walks with music in the ear and a walking stick to help keep them walking longer. Client could use the "4 minute work-out" found online at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PwJCJToQmps
  • Client not obtaining enough exercise as stated she's performing "small warm ups." She should try to perform incrementally strenuous walking as a start. This could include "the 4 minute workout" as found online.
  • Installing an exercise reminder on computer which reminds you every set period of time (preferably every 30 minutes) to perform eye exercises, take sips of water, and go for short walks.
  • Epsom salt foot bath nightly. Use 1 to 2 cups epsom salt with 10 liters of warm to hot water, then place feet into it for 30 minutes each night. This helps with cleansing and relaxation.
  • Increase visual acuity with the eye exercises found on this site: https://kraffeye.com/blog/8-easy-eye-exercises-to-improve-vision-techniques-and-tips
  • For better, drug-free sleep: Try to head to bed toward 1 to 2 hours after the sun sets and use a rice-filled pillow to be heated in microwave and placed under your back before bed.

Supplementation (product name, exact dosage & when to take)

  • B complex: 1 tablet daily in the morning with small snack then after 2 weeks of this, increase to 2 tablets during the day spaced from morning breakfast to lunch. Since the client is located in Indonesia it's not known what brand of supplements may be available there, but it's prefered to obtain a higher quality brand whose company performs tests on their products to ensure potency, quality, and lack of contaminants in them, which typically runs contrary to retail store brands. Try to obtain higher potency version with B12 (2500 mcg daily)
  • B12 sublingual supplement with at least 2500 mcg per day in the morning, under the tongue. This should be in methyl-cobalamin format, which is marketed as higher bio-availability.
  • Probiotics: Keep existing pro-biotic regimen as stated in client questionnaire that includes "inner" and "fermented probiotics" in the original client statement.
  • Garlic extract capsules equivalent to 2 cloves per day, spread throughout the day, then increase to 3 to 4 cloves per day after 2 weeks in incremental increased dosages.
  • Vitamin C tablet/capsule, preferably buffered form, 1000 mg upon waking, shortly before lunch, and before dinner; this is 3 times per day.
  • Vitamin D 6000 IU per day, taken with meals containing essential Fats/oils spread throughout the day at 2000 mg each meal.
    1. Vitamin D should be accompanied with sufficient amounts of Vitamin K, as vitamn K is necessary to have Vitamin D work properly. For the client's case, we recommend obtaining a K2 supplement and taking 100 mcg per day in the morning.
  • Digestive enzyme with Betaine HCL: 1 tablet in middle of each meal
  • 1 Cup chopped walnuts before bed

Reasons for supplement recommendations

  • B complex (with B12) needs to be boosted because according to her scores in the water soluble vitamin category, they are very low. B complex is especially important for not only the nervous sytem, but also the gut/intestinal system which is the body's "second brain" as it manufactures large amounts of neuro-transmitters needed for the brain to function properly.
  • B12 is one of the most important water soluble vitamins, and one of the hardest to assimilate as we get older, therefore needs extra amounts of this substance in sublingual format to make it easier to absorb. Helps, along with B complex, to rebuild the digestive system. Good idea to keep B12 levels around 1000 pmol/liter as this is the standard for this vitamin in places such as Japan.
  • Keep existing pro-biotic regimen as stated in client questionnaire that includes "inner" and fermented probiotics.
  • Vitamin C is used to strengthen the immune system, which is 75% contained within the intestinal/gut system. Since humans do not produce this vitamin it's a good idea to keep it at a higher level throughout the day for health maintenance.
  • Garlic extract capsules are used to not only support many functions of the body, especially the cardiovascular system, but more importantly helps to rid the body of parasites.
  • Vitamin D: client already stated she's taking vitamin D supplements, so we're recommending to spread it throughout the day along with the recommendations that will hopefully increase absorption. Client already including vitamin D with K2 in the liquid drop format. For reference: For every 5,000–10,000 units of D3 being recommended and tested for, we are recommending 100 mcg of K2 mk7 to be sure and prevent the inappropriate calcification that higher doses of D3 alone could cause.
  • Digestive enzyme with HCL: this will assist with significantly improving digestion and increasing stomach acid, which will trigger things as more pancreatic enzyme production. This will also assist with clearing fungus and parasites and bacteria such as H. Pylori in the digestive system that my be present.
  • Walnuts contain large amounts of essential fats that we need, along with large amounts of melatonin and Vitamin B6 for sound sleep.
